The word ‘idiocrat’ may or may not be in our Oxford Dictionaries; because language changes and some systems do not keep up with such changes in information and knowledge. An ‘idiocrat’ is any unthinking person who misfires his tongue without applying logic rules of rational ways of thinking. Donald Trump is the leading Republican idiocrat; I can easily label him an Ugly American.
Was it not George Orwell who proposed ‘1984’ after his classic, ‘Animal Farm’? And are we not still believing and propagating that “all men are brothers but some are more equal than others?”
I started the first version of this column after I first heard Trump in the first Republican debate. And my original version of this column was entitled ‘Trumping Trump’. My family enjoys the Eastern version of the card game ‘Trump’ called Twenty Eight.
Trumping Trump
Megyn Kelly, the moderator for the first GOP presidential debate in the US, pushed Trump to his natural character limit; whereby his true and honest character was revealed. Trump publicly attacked the moderator and verbally abused her; and later even re-tweeted that she is a “bimbo”. Twenty-four million Americans viewed that debate and, I believe, Donald Trump was trumped by Megan Kelly. Well done, moderator. That lady landed a good punch.
What is the problem with mavericks like Donald Trump who cannot prioritise ‘others’ in community, or life, or within groups above themselves? It is their big ego. And is it not strange that it is only the English language that capitalises the personal pronoun ‘I’? It is the self-centred view of I-Me-Myself and the centre of one’s own universe of thought and life.
By following the dialogue of the US GOP presidential debates on CNN, it is obvious to me that while majority of Americans appear to like Donald Trump, the gunslinger and cowboy of the moment; but it will be an entirely different decision call to choose him to become the next president of the USA.
What is organisational philosophy?
Do organisations have a philosophy of existence and action which transcends their personalities and leadership? Does America? Who defines these? Is it just the so-called founders, or owners, or does it not also includes the managers, and every other stakeholder, or every other customer who chooses not to buy their value offering? Is not the citizen the most important factor in any democracy?
Therefore, confining this column to my Trump theme; was he not really also articulating his purported organisational philosophy? To quote a local hero, Zunar the cartoonist, who said, “Even my pen has a stand”. Are not such answers, when fully considered; what reveals the true identity and character of the spokesperson? And what substance, form, and character is that?
It is said: “Circumstances neither make nor break a person; it reveals true identity and personality of the person.” I think Trump was trumped on this count and in his retort to truths about his character when he spoke to “threaten the dignity of moderator, Ms Kelly.
I will therefore agree with many arguments which say that beginning this year; Trump would slowly but surely become history in terms of the GOP presidential candidature, which he has finally agreed to comply with.
It is shocking that few challenged him, on both counts; i.e. the “abuse of dignity of the moderator,” and then the further abuse of the entire Republican Party when he said if he loses this campaign he would run as an independent. He dictates the agenda, while others follow.
To me, the Republican Party of the USA has lost all moral audacity to hold Trump fully accountable for that statement, but CNN did with their question. I believe that it is unacceptable he can tell them to: “Piss off, if you do not give me the support.”
And, it is equally unacceptable that that the GOP officialdom cannot rein in such a loose cannon; if they truly believe that their party is above the individual when it comes to becoming the president. And, the citizens of the world are watching, too.
I am Donald Trump
In Scriptures, when Moses had his conversation with God at the Burning Bush, and asked how he should introduce God? God’s reply was: “I am who I am.” But, if you hear Donald Trump, it would appear that he is a clear-cut competitor to this Abrahamic idea of who and what God is.
Donald Trump’s political philosophy is that only he and his success to date can define a better future for the US of A. He is a billionaire and he got there through hard work, good financial acumen, and bold decisions. But like all modern-day capitalists, he truly believes his money alone can buy all; including personal loyalty and systemic compliance. I disagree. In any true democracy; all the people cannot be bought all the time for all reasons.
What is not as publicly discussed and debated in US is that he had two failed marriages. He obviously had a problem building and growing relationships. Maybe he simply uses people for his benefit and self-glorification. That factor needs to be understood by the equally blind support of the Trump Club and all Americans.
Trump worldwide
In my doctoral thesis, I had to argue the existence and reality of worldviews, as a framework for me to define ‘dignity in the workplace’. In the process, I even ‘lost two professors’ because they were both either atheists or non-believers of any notion of an Absolute Truth or Other.
The rest of the world, what I choose to call, the ‘two-thirds world,’ does not apologise or need to rationalise their view of some kind of Absolute Other that exists and defines the spiritual world of reality. Every human person is a personality who is ordained similar dignity of life by that other. And, because of this, and if we follow the Martin Buber argument in “I and Thou;” his thesis is that, if the capital THOU acknowledges each of us, who are we to reject the same other.
Trump’s self-appointed importance has no equal in the world. The rest of the world will never accept another cowboy of gun-slinging fame after two world wars and two Iraqi ones. He excels at the moment entirely by arrogance and self-importance but soon enough the wise and connected within the world of US democracy are soon going to say a loud and clear “No”; if not the rest of the world will make our views known.
May God truly bless America, and not just the economy wherein their phrase above is recorded.
